Clearkill (/clearkill/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Lÿgrach åhehttruld Hold, Falimea Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Clearkill is derived from the Sylvin language, as Clearkill was founded by Ca̋chvë̂ Bé̄̄kīy 'Ryan Carmen' Ya̋ch Erménḱ Joīkī̌ Pipes Minogue, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Clearkill has a yearly average temperature of 20°C (68°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 15°C (59°F). Clearkill receives an average of 69 cm/y (27 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Clearkill covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 6934 m (-20200 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Clearkill was founded durring the early 14th century in winter of the year 1330, by Ca̋chvë̂ Bé̄̄kīy 'Ryan Carmen' Ya̋ch Erménḱ Joīkī̌ Pipes Minogue. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Ca̋chvë̂ Bé̄̄kīy 'Ryan Carmen' Ya̋ch Erménḱ Joīkī̌ Pipes Minogue.

Clearkill was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Clearkill is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Clearkill is buildings are built arround a single premissive cobblestone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Clearkill's robustly designed timber walls are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Clearkill has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Clearkill ’s existence was once fed by scholarly pursuits. But the income once drawn in by the works of scribes and academics has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Everywhere about the town one can see abandoned schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the town places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Even in these times.

Civic Infrastructure

Clearkill has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Clearkill. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Clearkill's parks.

Clearkill has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Clearkill.

Clearkill has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Clearkill has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Clearkill has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Clearkill's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Clearkill possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Clearkill has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Clearkill's natural decorations nor waterways.

Clearkill has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Clearkill's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is long in Clearkill.

The Skvader near Clearkill are known to be quite timid.

Clearkill's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves bloodletting to channel Summoning energies of tier 1 via speaking in tongues.
